The department requests a minimum of 2 Form 888’s that have knowledge of your relationship and support it. These can be from the sponsors friends and family and/or the visa applicants friends and family.

It is our recommendation that you supply 8 Form 888’s, that is 2 from the applicants family ,2 from the applicants friends, 2 from the sponsors family, 2 from the sponsors friends.

Many case officers take a view from their own personal experience that says, “I can get my mother (or friends) to sign anything” so these documents aren’t worth very much. This is why we provide a broad spectrum of friends and family so these documents can not be discounted. This in especially important for relationships with a short history and no children.

If it is not possible to get 8, then get as many as is practical in your situation. You need at least 2, and the more you have, the stronger your application will be.
