This kit is for the Tourist Stream, and it is designed for people who have never been to Australia. We include some information for completeness only.
Australia has 2 other tourist visas
- 601 – Electronic Travel Authority
- granted for a stay of up to 3 months. you can visit, cruise and do business tasks that are not paid. You can not study.
- 651 – eTourist Visa
- granted for up to 12 months, with a stay of up to 3 months. You can visit, cruise, do business task that are not paid, study for up to 3 months.
If you are eligable you should apply for these visa’s as they can be faster, cheaper and easier to obtain.
There is a general rule that you must be out of the Australia as much as you are in Australia. So if you get a 12 month visa and come for 3 months, when you leave, you need to wait for 3 months before coming back in. Airport Immigration has wide grounds for cancelling visas including tourist visas if they suspect you are not a genuine tourist, eg are working, or have no means of supporting yourself.
